Oh, Wisconsin. Come celebrate the 25TH ANNIVERSARY of the River Valley Ride as you pedal along the shore of Lake Michigan, ride down bustling small town roads and quiet country lanes, and experience majestic forests, prairies, and pastures. With seven great routes from 8 miles to 100, there’s opportunities for riders of every age and experience level to celebrate just what makes the Badger state so special! Make a day of it to end at Riveredge for a lush summer country picnic. Here's a taste of what makes this ride so special:

Slow down and enjoy the view! This event is a celebration of community and the natural beauty of the area, not a competition. We encourage you to ride at your own pace and set your own goals for the day!

We want everyone from highly experienced riders to families who might be new to biking to have a blast. That's why the ride offers 7 different route options from 8 to 100 miles. Pick what feels most comfortable for you! Change your mind as the event approaches or even as you get going during the ride? No problem at all!

You can click here for a PDF map of all the routes or visit this page on Riveredge's website for a description of each route as well as a link to digital versions of each route on mapmyride.com!

All routes finish at Riveredge Nature Center with a summer country picnic complete with brats, live music, and fun for the kids! A picnic lunch is included for all registered participants (extra meals are available to purchase for any guests who would like to join you after your ride!) and there will be live music, games, and activities to enjoy! Plus, we'll be giving away door prizes to pre-registered riders and will be raffling off an amazing Trek bike (free raffle entry for anyone registered by June 15!).

It's hard to believe that this is the 25th Anniversary of the ride! That means that not only are you joining in a decades long community tradition, but it also means we've got tons of experience in putting on a ride of this magnitude. From having fully stocked rest stops for each rider to planning routes that maximize the beauty you'll experience, you can be assured that we are taking in 25 years of history to make this the best ride we possibly can!

Not only is the River Valley Ride a great time, it's also Riveredge's biggest fundraiser of the year. All proceeds from the ride go directly to connecting communities to the great outdoors. Just by riding, you are helping to protect 379 acres of wild Wisconsin sanctuary, send thousands of students on perspective changing field trips, and support innovative community programs like Scientist in Residence and Family Nature clubs that are helping to change how schools and communities interact with the natural world around them.

Want to go above and beyond in helping raise fund for Riveredge's mission AND win some amazing thank you rewards in the process? This year, we're offering all riders an optional fundraising page where you can ask friends and family to help sponsor your ride- it's an incredibly easy way to multiply the impact you are having on bringing the great outdoors to families, schools, and communities! The process is simple:

1) a fundraising page will automatically be created for you when you register (remember, it's totally up to you whether you choose to use it!),
2) edit the page with your own story of why you are raising money for your ride (or just use our pre-made page!),
3) send out the link to family and friends to ask for donations
4) pick up your rewards at the ride confident you are making a huge difference in your community! Want to know what special thank you rewards we have at each level? (All reward levels are cumulative
- more details on each of these will be provided after you register for the ride.)

Ready to register?

We're happy to hear it! Here's all the info you'll need to know about registration and the ride!

Your registration includes much more than just your ride! Riders will also receive refreshments and rest stops along the ride, a picnic lunch after the ride, all the actitivities and fun of the post race party at Riveredge, AND a special 25th Anniversary River Valley Ride t-shirt (the standard included shirt is 50% cotton/50% polyester; you can upgrade to a 100% polyester performance shirt for just extra $5 while registering!).

We want this to be our biggest ride ever, so we're offering a significant discount for those registering and saving their spots early! As always, kids in tow ride free! (Please note that children riding in tow will not receive a t-shirt or picnic lunch ticket, but both can be purchased individually at the ride.)

The ride takes place rain or shine! (Rivers, after all, do need rain!) Due to the complex nature of this event, refunds will not be available.

Online registrations close at noon on Saturday, June 24th. Miss the online signup window? No worries! Day-of registration will be available at Fireman's Park from 6:30 - 9 AM.

Everything's better with friends! Rally a team of ten or more riders, and all adult members of the team will receive $5 off their ride! This is a fantastic option for businesses looking for a great extracurricular activity for their employees, community groups looking for fun outing for their members, or friends and family looking to experience an awesome Sunday together. The best part? Team members do not need to ride together (everyone is free to choose the distance that best suits them!) or even pick up their registration packets together. There'll be plenty of time to celebrate together at the afterparty!

Our online registration system makes it super easy to create a team and to invite folks to join you when they register.

Riveredge members are truly the backbone of the organization! In the past, we've thanked members for being part of the family by offering them a special discount on registration, but this ended up making the registration process for members and non-members alike much more confusing and cumbersome than we wanted it to be. This year, we're offering the member prices to everyone. That doesn't mean members don't get special benefits though! As our way of saying thanks, all Riveredge members will receive a special 25th Anniversary Bike Ride commemorative pin, a certificate for a free beer or soda at the picnic, and an extra raffle ticket to increase your odds of winning a Trek bike!

We are also offering a spectacular, one-of-a-kind bike jersey for sale. This special jersey is all about "celebrating the journey AND the destination" and is a can't miss for your collection. Sample jerseys are available at Riveredge Nature Center to use as a fitting guide! The cost is $65 (or free with $200 of fundraising!) and can be purchased above or the day of the ride (note: we can't guarantee we will have all sizes available by the ride for orders placed after May 31. Orders placed after May 31 may come not be available until after the ride).

What else do I need to know?

We want to make sure you have all the information you need to have a BLAST during the ride! If you have a question you don't see answered below, please don't hesitate to give us a call at 262-375-2715 and we'll be happy to help answer it!

Although your ride will end at Riveredge for the picnic celebration, all rides start right down the road from us at Fireman's Park in Newburg (508 Main Street, Newburg, WI 53090)! Free parking is available at Fireman's Park starting at 6:30 AM. Please note that this means after you finish celebrating at Riveredge, you'll need to bike the 1.4 miles back to Fireman's Park to return to your car. Don't worry, you'll be such a pro after your ride that it'll feel like the blink of an eye!

The ride start times are as follows:

Your safety is our biggest concern! It is very important to note that the Riveredge River Valley Bike Ride is NOT A RACE and the routes/roads are NOT CLOSED.

  • That means you'll be sharing the roads with vehicles, so rules of the road must be observed and single file riding is required. We'll have intersections marked for you, but most will not be guarded. Major intersections will be manned by route monitors. Please observe traffic monitors' directions! Law officers will enforce road and riding rules.
  • Emergency repair and pre-ride bike safety checks are offered at the start and at the rest stops.
  • Helmets are required. Bike mirrors are recommended.
  • Rest stops offer toilet facilities and healthy refreshments. Help us keep the ride "green" by observing the signs on the trash and recycle bins. Thank you!

This community ride would not be possible without the incredible and generous support of our sponsors. Please join us in thanking them for giving back and supporting outdoor recreation!
